My Favourite Treatment!

As we get older we grow richer in experience and confidence, but there is one thing we may lose: a youthful look to our skin.

Our lips are one of the most vulnerable areas for aging as the skin is very thin. Over time, our lips start to loose fullness and wrinkles start to appear. Dermal fillers can give a natural – looking result and ease the signs of ageing. They can add fullness to thin lips, while keeping the look and shape natural. All my lip treatments are enhanced naturally and very carefully to give Crisp Definition, Shape and Natural Volume! I work closely with my patients and give them plenty of time to discuss the treatment beforehand so that we get the desired natural lip enhancement.

This is my favourit treatment! My favoutite products to use for lip enhancement are Restylane Kiss and Juvederm.

Restylane Kysse is hyaluronic acid with 3% lidocaine – it is specifically made to be used for lip enhancement.

The result is a very natural and there is minimal swelling after treatment. The product gives lovely definition!

Initial treatment can last up to 6 months – subsequent treatments can last 9-12 months.

Juvederm Smile and Juvederm 3 are also superb for lip enhancement. They also consist of hyaluronic acid with 3% lidocaine.

They are crossed-linked differently to Restylane Kiss and they give a plumper look!

What are lip fillers?

Are lip fillers safe?

Yes dermal fillers are safe because they are hyaluronic acid a substance occurring naturally in the body. There is a decreased risk of an adverse reaction because of this
What are the precautions to take before lip fillers?

No vitamins, alcohol or anti-inflammatories 5-7 days before treatment to help prevent downtime e.g.. bruising

If you suffer from cold sores it is advisable to take lysine or an oral prescription x 1 week prior to treatment to help prevent cold sore virus reactivating

Day of treatment I recommend an antihistamine prior to treatment to help prevent swelling

Not suitable for anyone allergy to hyaluronic acid, pregnant or breastfeeding

Limit your fluid intake 3 hours before treatment as dehydrated lips will have less downtime
What is the aftercare?

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment – there may be some swelling and redness at treated area

Avoid anti-inflammatories, vitamins & alcohol for 2 days after treatment

Do not apply make up for 24 hours

Do not have any other cosmetic treatment for 4 weeks after treatment

Pineapple juice is good to drink – it has bromaline a natural anti-inflammatory and it helps with the healing process

Anne is a registered nurse and has been involved in Aesthetic Medicine for 20 years. She has specialized training & alot of experience in all the different Aesthetic Treatments that she provides. She is a founding member of DANAI (Dermatology Aesthetic Nurses Association of Ireland – www.danai.ie).
