Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in our bodies. It can bind huge amounts of water and keep keep our body tissues hydrated, soft and flexible.

From the age of 28 , we lose around 1% per year of the hyaluronic acid in our skin. With time, or due to exposure to environmental factors, our skin may become dry, fine lines and wrinkles may start to appear and the skin can loose its natural radiance. It is often difficult to restore the skins inner hydrobalance by using creams that are applied on the skin surface.

To hydrate and improve skin quality from within you need treatments that have a long-lasting effect below the skin surface.

Natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies form long molecular chains. This naturally occurring hyaluronic acid forms and degrades quickly, in 24 -48 hours.

Restylane Skinboosters contain hyaluronic acid which is cross – linked so that it will not degrade at the same rate.

As a result Restylane Skinboosters will provide a long-lasting hydrating effect in the skin!

The treatment comes in 2 different strengths – regular and light.I use the regular for older dehydrated skin on the face. I usually use the regular to treat hands also.

I use the light for younger skin. I also use it for necks and the décolletage.

By injecting micro droplets just below the skin surface, Restylane Skinbooster restores the natural composition of the skin, boosts hydration and improves elasticity.

A numbing cream is applied to area 20 minutes before treatment. Treatment is painless – the product also contains 3% lidocaine which makes the treatment very comfortable for the patient.

I recomment 3 treatments 2 – 4 weeks apart and afterwards 1 maintenance treatment every 4-6 months for best results.

FAQs

Are Skinboosters safe?

Yes Skinboosters are safe because they are hyaluronic acid a substance occurring naturally in the body. There is a decreased risk of an adverse reaction. The product is injected in minute droplets just below the skin to enhance hydration of the skin
What are the precautions to take before treatment?

No vitamins, alcohol or anti-inflammatories 5-7 days before treatment to help prevent downtime e.g.. bruising

If you suffer from cold sores it is advisable to take lysine or an oral prescription x 1 week prior to treatment to help prevent cold sore virus reactivating

Day of treatment I recommend an antihistamine prior to treatment to help prevent swelling

Not suitable for anyone allergy to hyaluronic acid, pregnant or breastfeeding
What is the aftercare?

Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment – there may be some swelling and redness at treated area

Avoid anti-inflammatories, vitamins & alcohol for 2 days after treatment

Do not apply make up for 24 hours

Do not have any other cosmetic treatment for 4 weeks after treatment

Pineapple juice is good to drink – it has bromaline a natural anti-inflammatory and it helps with the healing process

Until signs of inflammation disappear we recommend you avoid exposing the treated area to extreme heat like sunbathing, saunas or steam baths
Do I need to have three treatments?

To get the most out of Restylane skin boosters it is recommended to have 3 treatments 2-4 weeks apart, even though you will start to see visible improvements after the first treatment.
